McChicken Sandwich

FAKEAWAY SERIES

Fakeaway McChicken Sandwich (serves 2)

Welcome to my fakeaway series where I'm going to show you how to make your favourite takeaways at home, this time we're making a Maccy D's classic. The chicken sandwich has always been one of my favourites, and it's so easy to make your own. Your family will love this one and did you know you can cook this in your air fryer too.

Ingredients

  • 250g chicken thighs very finely chopped
  • 1 tsp. garlic granules
  • 1 tsp. onion granules
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 50g plain flour
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 50g breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp. onion granules
  • ½ tsp. mild mustard
  • 2 seeded brioche rolls toasted
  • Shredded lettuce

Method

  1. Season the chicken with garlic and onion granules along with some salt and pepper. Divide the mixture into two then shape into patties slightly larger than your buns. Pop into the freezer for 40 minutes as this will make them easier to handle.
  2. Coat the chicken in seasoned flour, then egg and finally breadcrumbs, then fry in oil, heated to 170°c for around six minutes until the internal temperature reaches at least 75°c.
  3. To make the sauce, combine the mayonnaise, onion, granules, mustard, along with a bit of salt and pepper and set to one side.
  4. Build your burger, by spreading a generous amount of mayonnaise onto the base of your toasted bun, at the burger, then lettuce, then top with the other half of the bun.

N.B you can also cook these burgers in your air fryer, just place on top of the crisp plate, spray with oil and cook for eight minutes at 200°c turning halfway through.
